SADM 2

The second day for Sketch a day May! Today is day two. I will be doing multiple pages each day however just a spread for today. Put some more effort into their designs. They're inspired by smaller indigenous African tribes but their fish half is more wild dog or hyena. Culturally these people do have a heirarchy system, much like a pack of hyenas where there are dominant females and the males provide more for menial tasks, however both the males and females take part in fighting. The males tend to dive in the sand whereas the females rely on surface level camouflage. The higher up a female is the more adorned they are by jewellery and trophies, the older they get they also develop more intricate coat patterns. The females also tend to be larger in size with a longer and more shovel-like tail! Another thing to note is their ears! Like most mer races they have long pointed ears. As part of their culture, from a young age both sexes will use flexible thin sticks to bend their ears over their head as they grow and get longer. The most elderly members of the tribe will often have ears that get so long and bend so far they begin to resemble horns or a halo.

There are several different species of the land mer, in this particular region there are several large races and fewer underground dwelling races!

Will probably spend a few days on these guys, their culture and environment and some other creatures too. Will probably split the month into a few different themes to keep it interesting.
